So I'm still unclear on how people breed their petz. Do they hex the litters using genetics, do they actually breed them...Which is what I do...
I guess there are different ways to do it, but I just wonder how people prefer to get their litters, how they decide genetics, etc.

I just breed, but I also don't compete in pkc so genetics don't matter as much to me in terms of showing.

I see. That's what I do with the Petzy breeds, or breeds that I want to show here since the rules aren't as strict. It's fun to see what you end up with that way! But I also want to do realistic breeding, so I just wonder what methods people use for that...

Well like it's already green mentioned, it depends on whether it's pkc or not. My Kuvasz are all white, and shading seems to be random although I do try to shade pups who come from shaded parents.
As to my Newfies, since I have multiple markings and colours to select from, I assigned my ac/hexed gen 1s to have various traits.
Some carry liver although they're black, as well as different degrees of white up to and including the landseer pattern. I also included black dilution, since grey Newfies do in fact happen.
With my huskies, I let my imagination run since huskies can be varied. However, I do try to keep markings realistic and vaguely like the parents at least.
I guess it depends on whether you wanna do realistic or not. Pkc is huge on that and the community in general does genetics for both catz and dogz, especially since abno did that dog genetics breakdown.

Alexzander@Királyi curious, what newfie file do you use? As for breeding I do both depending on if I'm doing PKC or not and what I feel like. Most of my PKC purebred catz litterz are done with genetics, dogz is a hit and miss since I'm not as good with their genetics. Sometimes I just go "A black dog plus a white dog equals grey." With catz since white is such a wide ranging amount from the same gene I tend to look at the parents and stick close to them(same with dogz). However all mixies and like my CK huskies I go with what the game has. Occasionally when I'm breeding I'll get a pet that I just love the look of so much I'll keep rather than hex it and just have an extra pet from those parents.

Shade : Supernova's ^^ Though I do own one from the Abno file, but I like the structure of Nova's more ^^ I'm planning on making up some genetics for my manxes, 'cause I think it'd be fun XD

I put genetics on most of my Japs but only after they've champed since I don't breed them before that.

I use Furry Paws for dog genetics and when I asked on PKC for help with catz Tarzi directed me to This Book which I love. I also love your Newfies, makes me want to dig out mine, though I prefer Abno V1

OMG I'm diving headlong into catz genetics. I know some of the dog genetics, but not all. So this is fun x.x
L - shorthair l - longhair
agouti = grizzle A- - agouti aa - solid
agouti is linked to tabby. Non-agouti cats will not be tabbied
black-based colours: black B- brown bb light brown (cinnamon) - b1b1
Example: TB - ticked T- mackeral tbtb - classic tabby
AA - agouti AA B-D- + TT = brown mackeral tabby AA bb D- + tbtb = blue classic tabby AA b1b1dd + TbTb - fawn ticked tabby
AA (D-O(O)) + TT = red mackeral tabby
non agouti aa B-D- + TT = solid black
non-agouti orange does not exist
Orange based: O(O) is a red, o(o) is a pale cream
non-orange is lowercase o, and permits black to be expressed.
Colour density: DD is a dense coat, Dd is a carrier and dd is diluted D- is density dd is dilute
For example: black DD or Dd (carrier of brown) becomes dd to make blue.
Dominant White: WW - overrides ALL others, and produces a solid white coat.
solid whites have an issue with hearing and are often deaf from near-birth
Piebald Spotting: S- spotting s - no spotting Ss - minimal white (face, chest, belly, feet) SS - over 50% white; may even be 100% white
SS cats will have orange or medium blue eyes. They may have even a single coloured hair, so they're SS and not WW. They're considered "spotted" even if they're solid white in appearance.
