I know there has been quite a bit of talk, so here's the official suggestion and debate thread.
Suggested Events: + sled dog trials + herding/guardian dog trial + therapy dog/cat + obedience I, II, III
Potentials: + search and rescue + dock diving trial + good citizen tests + hunting trials (sight vs scent) + agility + disc dog/frisbee + Schutzhund

I think we should add agility and frisbee to the list as well. Also to boost the amount of entries it would be a good idea to make standard rules for each type of show, so that you only have to take one set of photos to enter under different judges.

That sounds like a good idea actually.

What about Schutzhund? And obedience could have two or three levels.
Can I work on the obedience part? I have an idea how it could be done.

By all means, go ahead! I'll add schutzhund and do a little research and see what could be constructed :3

In schutzhund there should probably be three levels as well, just like IRL (SchHI, SchHII, SchHIII). Each trial is also made up of three parts, obedience, tracking and protection. This could be easy to do as just one photo for each part of the trial (for example, something like down for obedience, sniffing for tracking and pulling the red tug toy or sleeve for protection). I'd be totally willing to organize something for some of the other sports, I'll post my ideas here once I'm done with the pictures I could also work out some ribbons or trophies if people are interested.

I have a feeling people may not like my Obedience, a several pics need to be taken. Your schutzhund has less pics than my obedience. lol

I would still enter even if I had to take a lot of pictures, just because I have to enter everything I can lol. I'm just not sure how many people will enter these so I'm keeping the rules simple. I should have some herding and schutzhund trials open for tommorow. Edit: oops, totally missed this. I'll open some when we get the rules together

Feel free to propose any rules you'd like. I just put some rough ones up, but refinement is always good and so are other people's opinions and suggestions ^_^

Great! Here is what I have come up with so far. I have narrowed it down to two options. I personally prefer option 1, because it is closer to real life but I'm open to suggestions. I copied the general format from the existing rules for obedience so that it would match.
Schutzhund
OPTION 1
Titles: SchHI - At least 3 passing scores in 3 different trials. SchHII - At least 6 passing scores in 6 different trials. SchHIII - At least 9 passing scores in 9 different trials.
Trials are judged on a pass or fail basis. The number of passes will add up to specific titles - see above. New photos must be taken for each trial, but the tasks are chosen by the judge. Different tasks may be specified for each level, depending on the judge's decision.
OPTION 2 (if we want to avoid taking new photos for each trial)
Titles: SchHI - 5 points SchHII - 10 points SchHIII - 15 points
Dogs are judged against each other based on how well they complete the tasks set by the judge. Different tasks may be specified for each level, depending on the judge's decision.
First in Trial: 3 points Second in Trial: 2 points Honourable Mention: 1 points
Competitions will have a minimum of three entries from 1 entrant, with unlimited entrants based on judge's discretion.
In competitions with 3 entrants, only First will be awarded. With 4-6 dogz, First and Second will be awarded. With 6-10 dogz, all three placements will be awarded. For each additional 5 dogz, one more honourable mention will be awarded.
Herding could be organised on the same basis, just with different titles.

The challenge is to have a title be reasonably easy to achieve, but still require some level of work. In my own experiences, people want to achieve without spending countless hours getting a pixel dog to do something. Finding the balance between challenge and easy is never fun >.<
Personally, I like the idea of the multiple wins required for each level, but I'm not sure if people would want to take that many photos.

That's exactly what I was trying to balance out when writing these. I also like that version better, but we could modify it so that it only takes one trial to get a title, except you would need more photos for it. That way you could just take all the pictures in one session instead of constantly needing to take new ones.

Or need to be judged by two people with the same set of pics. I want more of a challenge when I show my dogs.

Anyone else interested in hosting sports, or have suggestions for events?
